We measure first. Everything else follows from that.
Forensis is a measurement and diagnostics firm, not an equipment vendor. What we sell is not an instrument — it is the defensibility of the result that comes out of it.
Principle
Our name carries a claim.
Forensis is Latin for “of the forum” — the place where evidence was laid out in public. The name puts us under an obligation: everything we state has to rest on a measurement, and that measurement has to survive being questioned. Writing a report is easy. Standing behind one is a different job.
Process
Five steps, one direction.
Each step produces the justification for the next. Skipping a stage means basing the following one on guesswork.

Measure
We come to the site. We agree the measurement points with you and record using instruments with traceable calibration. Conditions, instrument, serial number and calibration date go into the report.

Identify
We turn raw data into a finding. “Harmonics are high” is an observation; which load produces them, under which operating regime and at what magnitude is a finding. The report gives the finding.

Quantify
We work out what the finding is worth: annual loss, tariff exposure, effect on equipment life, likelihood of downtime. Without a number, a problem never reaches a priority list.

Solve
We present the options with cost ranges and their relative merits. We do not steer you toward a single product; the alternatives appear in the report.

Monitor
Some problems are solved once and stay solved. Others recur. For the second kind we propose continuous monitoring — but only where monitoring genuinely earns its cost.
Measurement chain
A calibration certificate on its own is not enough.
The defensibility of a measurement does not come from the instrument alone. Instrument class, current and voltage transformers, connection method, sampling interval, ambient conditions and reporting procedure — the whole chain is part of the result. We document every link rather than stopping at “we have a certificate”.

Traceable calibration certificate, scheduled recalibration, conformity documentation against the relevant standards.

Connection
Measurement point, transducers, connection method and their effect on the result.

Recording
Sampling interval, measurement duration, operating regime and ambient conditions.

Report
Standard format, stated uncertainty, the person who took the measurement, and the date.
Independence
You do not have to buy anything from us to keep the report.
When the firm that makes the diagnosis also sells the fix, the neutrality of the report is rightly questioned. We settle that at the outset: the findings report and the quotation are separate documents. The report lists the options, competing products included. If you decide not to continue with us, the report is still yours and you can hand it to someone else.
